Case History: Non-Profit Fundraising

Library Foundation Fundraiser for Columbia Tower Rotary

The Columbia Tower Rotary's objective is to celebrate the Centennial of the Rotary movement in Spring 2005 with a fundraiser for the Seattle Public Library Foundation. The library was chosen because it has opened it's new signature downtown building in the past year, and because the library is chronically short of operating funds. The new library building is just two blocks from the Bank of America Tower where the Columbia Tower Rotary meets. Our goal is to raise $500 to $2000 in the first year of our event.

Location: The largest meeting rooms in the library accommodate 50 to 100. Since this somewhat limits the attendance, we have chosen a "treasure hunt" format for the event. People receive a game/clue sheet when they arrive and they seek to find the clues and complete the clue sheet. Practical experience in exploring the library boosts familiarity with the library - its building and resources.
