What is the relevance of “Go Put Your Strengths To Work” to an independant training consultant? Presumably being able to train others to do XX is a strength? Buckingham weaves a caveat into his message, saying that if you have a strength but you’re not very good at it it’s a hobby. Are there a lot of people around performing a job at a “hobby” level? Obviously, yes. The service manager at the local XX auto dealership is having a difficult time getting that troublesome warning light to stop blinking, and his customer-communication skills are appalling. But what am I to do? Tell him this isn’t “right work” for him? On the other side, assuming I have a pretty good idea that I’m one of the best trainers in my field, how would I validate that to clients?
